Number 2: Dean Windass - Hull City 1-0 Bristol City, Championship, 2008

"Quite simply, destined to be from Dean Windass," was how the Sky TV commentator saluted the historic moment when the hometown boy unleashed the spectacular volley that sent Hull into the top flight for the first time in their 104-year history.

Nick Barmby began the move by releasing Fraizer Campbell down the left. He jinked his way beyond a couple of defenders before looking up and scooping the ball towards Windass who was loitering with intent on the 18-yard line.

The execution was perfect as the striker swung back his right foot to give Bristol City 'keeper Adriano Basso no chance. The Tigers roared and the Premier League beckoned. "I must have watched the goal on Sky+ a thousand times," said Windass, two years later.
