Fantasy Football round-up

14 March 2013

Sunday is derby day in the npower Championship as four of the fiercest rivals in the npower Football League come face-to-face.

Pride and vital points in the fight for a Play-Off berth are up for grabs, but how do these old enemies compare in Phones 4u Fantasy Football?

Near-neighbours Blackburn Rovers and Burnley do battle in a Lancashire derby, but geography has nothing to do with the rivalry between Brighton and Hove Albion and Crystal Palace.

The two promotion hopefuls, who are 45 miles apart, became fierce rivals after they fought for promotion from the old Third Division in 1976/77.

Palace boast the leading points scorer in Phones 4u Fantasy Football, the official fantasy game of the Football League.

Former Brighton front man Glenn Murray has racked up 95 points this season after hitting the back of the net 29 times and providing four assists.

Blackburn poacher Jordan Rhodes and Burnley talisman Charlie Austin have an identical record this season, and have both pocketed 22 goals and two assists worth 70 points.

Murray is also the best value for money player in the game, having scored his points at a rate of 118.75 per £m, while Rhodes is the fourth most selected and can be found leading the line in 35.2% of teams.

Craig Mackail-Smith is Brighton's best performer with 39 points, which is only the 18th overall, but the Seagulls are leading the way in March.

Their Argentine striker Leonardo Ulloa has already scored four goals and 12 points this month, three points more than Eagles veteran Kevin Phillips.

Meanwhile, Clarets defender Daniel Lafferty already has a respectable seven points to his name in March after picking up assists against Charlton Athletic and Barnsley.

Brighton are also sitting proudly atop the March edition of the Fans Championship, where supporters join forces to compete for exclusive prizes, thanks to the efforts of fantasy managers Miles Hobden, John Taylor and Jonathon Platt.

When it comes to the overall standings in the Fans Championship, Burnley are the best of Sunday's combatants and are four points clear of rivals Rovers in sixth.

It's never too late to pick your favourite npower Championship players and enter Phones 4u Fantasy Football in the hunt for incredible prizes, including behind the scenes stadium tours.
