AFC Wimbledon manager Neal Ardley admits the club are making progress towards signing out-of-contract Gillingham centre-back Andy Frampton, but a deal has not been completed.
Gills captain Frampton, 33, has come to the end of his contract at Priestfield and is free to leave on a Bosman ruling, with reports suggesting a deal with the Dons has been done.
He told the club's official website on Wednesday: "We have spoken at length with Andy Frampton and terms have been agreed with the player, but he is currently away on holiday.
"As a club we like to do things properly and we do not announce that we have signed a player until he has signed on the dotted line and passed a medical.
"Although we are hopeful of concluding a deal and Andy would be a major asset to us if he signs, we do not wish to comment further until he has signed."
He has previously made over 100 appearances for Millwall and played 164 times for Brentford.
