Mackie transfer request accepted

25 July 2013

Scotland international Jamie Mackie has had a transfer request accepted by QPR.

Press Association Sport revealed on Thursday morning that the forward had asked to leave Loftus Road amid interest from Rangers' Sky Bet Championship rivals Nottingham Forest.

A statement on the west London club's official website said: "Jamie Mackie has today submitted a transfer request, which the club have reluctantly accepted.

"The 27 year-old has informed the club of his desire to leave, having found first-team opportunities limited at Loftus Road in the last six months.

"As previously stated, no player will leave QPR unless the club's valuation is met."

Mackie was deemed surplus to requirements last season as Rangers were relegated from the Premier League and his situation at Loftus Road shows little sign of improvement as Hoops manager Harry Redknapp targets new additions to his attack.

Forest are interested in signing Mackie and have had a bid rejected. Forest manager Billy Davies has long admired Mackie and tried to sign him during his first spell in charge at the City Ground when the forward was a Plymouth player.
