Peterborough chairman Darragh MacAnthony has dismissed reports linking Posh with a move for Port Vale striker Tom Pope.
The Sun newspaper said Peterborough, who have a reputation for plucking talent from the lower leagues, were lining up a swoop for Pope, who has scored 23 goals in all competitions for the npower League Two club so far this season.
But MacAnthony said via Twitter: "It is total nonsense and we are not in for that player or have ever been.
"Great goal scorer, but nothing in this one."
Pope, 27, recently extended his contract at Vale Park until the summer of 2014.
