Crewe have confirmed they have activated a one-year extension in striker Mathias Pogba's contract.
The 23-year-old is still yet to appear in this campaign because of a knee injury picked up in a pre-season clash with Manchester United, with his return slated over the Christmas period.
However, that did not prevent boss Steve Davis from agreeing terms to keep the Alex's top scorer from last season at Gresty Road until the summer of 2015.
"We had an extra year option with Pogs and although he hasn't played for us this season, we made the decision to extend it," Davis told the club's official website.
"It is the right thing to do and it will be great to get him back with us and playing in the second half of the season.
"I know it is a bit of a footballing clich? but it really will be like having a new signing. I think it is great to have him here and then with the extra year as well, he will only get better and improve.
"I am sure he wants that security as well and how we have to work hard to get him back where he was before the injury."
