Birmingham have recalled striker Akwasi Asante from his loan spell at Shrewsbury.
The 20-year-old joined the League One club on a month-long deal in mid-July although an extension would likely have been in the pipeline, with Asante impressing in his first appearance of the season on Saturday having recovered from a hamstring injury.
It comes as Blues manager Lee Clark looks to increase his striking options, with Nikola Zigic still struggling with a back problem, Peter Lovenkrands having picked up a slight niggle and Marlon King preparing to leave St Andrew's in a bit to trim the Championship outfit's wage bill.
Asante sustained a hamstring complaint while with the Shrews during pre-season but returned to full fitness and started Saturday's 2-0 win over Swindon, enjoying 75 minutes.
The news will be a big blow to Town boss Graham Turner, who also recently lost fellow striker and summer signing John Marsden for between six to eight weeks with a foot injury.
