Shots relegated

27 April 2013

Aldershot Town have been relegated out of The Football League after a 2-0 loss to Rotherham United at the New York Stadium.

The Shots were up against it coming into the weekend, three points adrift of safety, and goals from Johnny Mullins and Lee Frecklington consigned them to relegation, and promoted the Millers to League 1.

The club appointed Andy Scott as manager in February, replacing former boss Dean Holdsworth, and it was hoped he could save them from dropping out of The Football League but, after a good start under his guidance, the Shots' form dipped and that has proved costly.

They will now play in the Conference Premier from next season, for the first time since they won the division to earn a place in The League in 2008.
