Brentford boss Uwe Rosler admits his side are in a "fantastic position" after they moved up to third with a 2-0 win at Crewe.
Bradley Wright-Phillips and Marcello Trotta were on target as Crewe came back down to earth with a bump following Sunday's JPT final triumph at Wembley.
Rosler said: "The players went into the game focused on the job in hand and they have put us in a fantastic position now. We made 24 attempts which says it all. We clearly deserved to win, there is no discussion to be had about that.
"We always talk about attacking and we succeeded with very good movement up front while the back four were terrific. Everyone played very well and we had so many man-of-the-match performances.
"Marcello looked very good in training, he is young and struggles with playing every three days but he always shows the right attitude and I believe in his qualities."
Crewe manager Steve Davis said: "The players were disappointing after the terrific performance on Sunday. They were were too blas? and sloppy in the warm-up and that's how we started the game.
"They might have been tired but I don't want to make excuses for them - they have to do better than that. They weren't prepared physically or mentally and I have had a go at them for that.
"We didn't compete for the first 20 minutes but we never looked like scoring all night. We could be playing now and we still wouldn't have scored.
"When you only have three or four players near your level you aren't going to win any football match.
"Brentford were decent and are one of the best teams we played. They are competitive and powerful with a threat up front and they have a lot of experience which we are lacking."
