Robinson keen to strengthen

28 April 2013

MK Dons boss Karl Robinson is already planning for next season after seeing his side sign off from this term with a 2-0 win at Stevenage.

Goals from Patrick Bamford and Ryan Lowe guaranteed the Dons a top-10 finish in League One.

Robinson admitted he was disappointed to miss out on the play-offs but, after a well-deserved drink, the hard work will start almost instantly ahead of next season's start in August.

"We finished the season off in style and it's only going to set us up for next season," said Robinson.

"We want to build on this year, we are a very competitive team and we want our good players to stay. Where do we go from here? I'll enjoy the win, have a pint and on Monday start planning."

Three straight losses brought a disappointing end to Graham Westley's five-match spell since returning as manager at the end of March and he pulled no punches in his assessment of Stevenage's squad.

"What I've watched is a side that is not fit enough, lacks the basics, and doesn't defend with a sense of professionalism or attack with drive and sense of belief.

"There's so much that needs to improve, there really is. A re-birth is needed."
