Nicholson not bitter over departure

11 September 2012

Barry Nicholson insists there are no hard feelings over his departure from Preston.

Nicholson fell out of favour at Deepdale following Graham Westley's arrival as manager in January and joined Fleetwood in the summer after being one of numerous senior professionals moved on by the former Stevenage boss.

"It's obviously disappointing when it comes to an end and the manager's got different plans and you're not part of it," the 34-year-old said.

"But, as I said when I left, football's all about opinions, he's got his own ideas and I totally respect that.

"We parted on good terms - I wished him well and he wished me all the best with my future."

Nicholson accepts Preston fans did not see him consistently hit top form during a four-year spell beset by injury problems.

"Over the four years that I was at North End the fans probably didn't see the best of me because it was a bit up and down with two long-term injuries," he added.

"It was a bit stop-start but, as I say, I've parted on good terms and I wish the club really well."
