Tony Mowbray is convinced Middlesbrough got value for money in their summer transfer dealings.
The manager staged a major overhaul of his squad as he went on a bargain-hunting spree, and he is delighted with the men he managed to net.
He told the club's official website: "We brought in some players on loan and some from the lower leagues, so it's not as though we've spent millions.
"Emanuel Ledesma was a free transfer; George Friend was ?100,000 and Mustapha Carayol was ?300,000.
"Jonathan Woodgate is a signing with huge experience and quality and Grant Leadbitter has played in the Premier League.
"They were both free transfers, but will be very important to us in the season ahead."
