League Two

Mellon taking it one game at a time

12 September 2012

Fleetwood manager Micky Mellon is refusing to get carried away with the Football League newcomers' impressive start to the season.

Three consecutive wins have landed the Cod Army among the pacesetters in npower League Two after five matches.

Following their prodigious rise through the non-league pyramid expectations are spiralling, but Mellon is keen to point out that his team still have plenty of room for improvement.

"The target is just to win on Saturday - we say that all the time," he told Press Association Sport.

"We're not trying to be clever. We're not good enough to make our goals too big.

"We have to be at our best every game in order to try and pick up points.

"There's no doubt, at a certain stage of the season, if we've accumulated a certain amount of points we'll be able to determine what our target is then."
