Ipswich haven taken former West Brom defender Abdoulaye Meite on trial.
The experienced centre-back, an Ivory Coast international, moved to England from Marseille in 2006, first joining Bolton before switching to West Brom two years later.
Meite spent three seasons at The Hawthorns before his release last summer, moving back to France last season, although he is now at Portman Road looking for a contract.
Manager Paul Jewell told the club's official website: "Abdoulaye has come in and he will be training with us this week. We're looking at him for a week and we will see where things go."
Meanwhile, Jewell has confirmed his interest in former Blackburn and Cologne defender Kevin Pezzoni, also recently on trial, has now ended.
"Kevin was with us last week and he did okay," Jewell said. "I spoke with his father and his agent but the money that they were looking for was out of our level."
