Crewe boss Steve Davis will waste no time dipping into the transfer market when the emergency loan window opens.
Clubs can make additions to their squad a week after the deadline has passed and Davis will be looking for cover after Ashley Westwood joined Aston Villa and with Mathias Pogba struggling with a knee injury.
"We are still in contact with a number of clubs about the possibility of bringing players in on loan," Davis told the club's official website.
"We have made enquiries and seeing what is available.
"We need a replacement for Pogs, because we expect him to be out for two to three weeks and of course one for Westy, who can get on the ball and has a range of passing."
