Bellamy set for Bluebirds break

17 September 2012

Malky Mackay could rest star man Craig Bellamy for the first of two trips to London this week for Cardiff.

Bellamy scored against Leeds on Saturday but is not long back from a calf tear so Mackay may chose to protect his prize asset ahead of the match with Millwall on Tuesday.

"We've got two away games coming up and I'm going to be cautious in terms of how he's (Bellamy) played over the next couple of weeks," the Bluebirds' boss told the South Wales Echo.

"He'll be part of the group for Millwall, but as to whether he's involved, we will have to wait and see."

Meanwhile, Matt Connolly will resume his partnership with skipper Mark Hudson in the centre of Cardiff's defence as Ben Turner is not fit.

Turner is joined on the sidelines by Robert Earnshaw (heel), Stephen McPhail (hamstring) and Rudy Gestede (knee) who all miss out through injury.
