Pearson acknowledges Walsh role

3 October 2012

Leicester manager Nigel Pearson has praised the club's head of recruitment Steve Walsh for unearthing Anthony Knockaert.

Knockaert has been a revelation since his summer arrival from French club Guingamp. The France Under-21 international midfielder hit the headlines again on Tuesday night with two spectacular goals in the Foxes 2-0 victory at Huddersfield.

The 20-year-old hit a stunning 35-yard drive after half an hour to leave Town goalkeeper Alex Smithies with no chance. He completed his double with an hour gone when he produced a brilliant piece of improvisation to back-heel volley Paul Konchesky's cross into the net.

After the game, Pearson hailed Walsh for finding Knockaert.

He said: "He has done a lot of good work over the years and takes the credit for finding players like Anthony.

"You don't throw a net out and see what comes in, it takes a lot of care. What we have spent shows we get value for money."
