AFC Wimbledon defender Callum McNaughton is targeting a return to first-team action before the end of October.
The former West Ham centre-back has been occupying the sidelines for six months with an anterior cruciate knee ligament injury but the 20-year-old has stepped up his recuperation with fitness coach Jason Moriarty and is making good progress.
"It is a great feeling to nearly be back now after such a long time out," McNaughton said. "I just have to keep working hard and clear the final hurdle, but it is looking promising."
He added: "I have recovered well so far after six months out and if I keep it up then hopefully I will be back very soon. I have been passed over to Jason recently to do more twisting and turning so that I can get a lot sharper.
"I am getting a lot fitter now. I have been kicking a ball for a while now and I am doing things more naturally."
