League 2 Team of the Week

29 October 2012

Each week the Official Football League website will bring you the Team of the Week. Produced by the Press Association, the Teams of the Week features the eleven top performing players from each division from the weekend's matches.

Mark Byrne makes the npower League 2 Team of the Week after holding his nerve in the dying seconds to give Barnet their second victory of the season from the spot in their match against Chesterfield.

The game looked set to end goalless before the Irish midfielder stepped up to score a last-gasp penalty to give the Bees another much-needed three points.

Gillingham's Romain Vincelot was another midfielder to score the only goal of the game to give his side three points and make the Team of the Week.

The 27-year-old only joined Martin Allen's men this week, on loan from Brighton and Hove Albion, and he made an instant impact by firing into the bottom corner from the edge of the area midway through the first half in the Gills' match against AFC Wimbledon.

Torquay United's Damon Lathrope was also involved in a 1-0 win for his side, against Morecambe, but he didn't find the net. He did enough to make the Team, though - partnering Vincelot in the middle.

Burton Albion and Oxford United both recorded wins at the weekend and they each have two players in the XI.

For the Brewers it's midfielder Jacques Maghoma and striker Calvin Zola who both impressed in their 1-0 victory against Bradford City - Zola being the scorer of the all-important goal.

Oxford, meanwhile, have centre-back Johnny Mullins in the squad, as well as front man James Constable, who both found the net in the U's 3-1 success away at Wycombe Wanderers.

Elsewhere, Cheltenham Town's two-goal hero Keith Lowe is included. The right-back notched two unlikely second-half goals for Mark Yates' men as they beat Exeter City 3-0.

Making up the back four is York City's Clarke Carlisle, who was pivotal as the Minstermen kept Southend United at bay in a 0-0 draw, and Northampton Town's Joe Widdowson.

Left-back Widdowson was on form for the Cobblers as they beat high-flying Port Vale 2-0 at Sixfields.

Rotherham United 'keeper Andy Warrington kept a clean sheet in the Millers' win over Plymouth Argyle and, therefore, completes the Team.
