Injury woes worry Powell

1 October 2012

Charlton manager Chris Powell admits he is concerned by his side's growing injury list.

Skipper Johnnie Jackson is the latest player in the treatment room after damaging a hamstring during Saturday's 1-1 draw with Blackburn.

Ricardo Fuller missed that game through illness while fellow striker Yann Kermorgant suffered a fractured ankle last week.

"We've lost three players recently through injury and illness, it is a concern but it happens to every team and every manager," said Powell, who has drafted in Manchester City's Abdul Razak on loan ahead of Tuesday's clash with Watford.

"I was quite fortunate last year that we were relatively injury free but this year we seem to have had more than our fair share already.

"It is just about trying to keep the boys fresh and keeping them fit, that's all we can do. It does create chances for other players and you've got to do your best and try to stay in whenever your chance arises."
