Live Capital One Cup action

27 December 2012

Capital One Cup Semi-Finals will be live on Sky Sports

The semi-finals of the Capital One Cup are due to start this week, and both legs of the two ties will be screened live on Sky Sports.

Up first, on Tuesday at 7.45pm, it's the turn of Bradford City and Aston Villa. The npower League 2 Bantams have defied all odds by getting to this stage of the competition, beating Wigan Athletic and Arsenal amongst others, but can they take the last step and reach the final of the Capital One Cup?

Paul Lambert's Aston Villa stand in their way and will be hot favourites, even if they are struggling in the Premier League, sitting 16th. The two sides haven't met since 2001, and that was for a top flight fixture which Villa won 3-0. In fact, the last time the Bantams beat Aston Villa was way back in 1971.

The form book and league standings point to Aston Villa, but you can't write the giant-killing Bantams off, particularly in the first leg in front of a noisy Valley Parade crowd.

A day later it's the turn of Chelsea and Swansea City, who lock horns at Stamford Bridge. It's likely to be an even contest with only four places and nine points separating them in the Premier League, but expect an exciting match with plenty of neat, passing football.

Chelsea have the form, winning their last four games, but the Swans have the cup momentum - they haven't needed extra-time or a penalty shoot-out in any of their Capital One Cup matches so far.

The second legs then begin on Tuesday January January 22nd, as Bradford travel to Aston Villa for a 7.45pm kick-off live on Sky Sports.

And a day later, on Wednesday January 23rd, Swansea host Chelsea in front of the cameras. Following the match at the Liberty Stadium, we will know who will be featuring in the final at Wembley Stadium, battling it out for the Capital One Cup.
