Welcome to the brand new Official Website of the Capital One Cup

This is where you will find all the latest news and exclusive features from across the 52-year-old cup competition.

This year's First Round provides the curtain-raiser for the new domestic football season and, before all the games kick-off, why not familiarise yourself with our new website by having a look around.
As well as all the need-to-know news, we also have features that you won't be able to access anywhere else, and all the important stats and background information about the competition.

In the features section you’ll find a regular blog from four-time winner and Liverpool legend Alan Kennedy, who’ll give his thoughts on each round of the competition and preview all the big matches.

“A Capital One Cup run can hand you money-spinning nights against Premier League giants, great entertainment, a winning habit and the platform to enjoy a superb league season.” - .Read the rest of Alan Kennedy's blog by clicking here

There’s also the Capital One-on-One, where we speak exclusively to a key player in an upcoming contest. The first interview is with new Fleetwood Town striker Jon Parkin, as he prepares to take on four-time winners Nottingham Forest in the First Round.

“We want to beat Nottingham Forest and we want to go on a run in the competition – why wouldn't we?” - Read the full One-on-One chat with Jon Parkin by clicking here.

As ever, the Capital One Cup will also be hitting your TV screens so you can watch all the live action from the competition.

First up, on Monday night there is a 7.45pm kick-off at Boundary Park where League 1 Oldham Athletic take on Championship new boys Sheffield Wednesday. The Latics were beaten twice by the promoted Owls last term but, as everyone knows, anything can happen in the cup.

The second live installment of the Capital One Cup First Round is on Tuesday evening as Swindon Town host Brighton & Hove Albion in another 7.45pm kick-off. The Robins were crowned Champions of League 2 last season, while the Seagulls finished just outside the Championship Play-Off places. Paolo Di Canio and Gus Poyet will be very familiar with each other from their on-field battles as players, but this will be the first time the two have gone head-to-head as managers.

Both ties will be shown live on Sky Sports.

Don't worry if you can't catch the action live on TV, though, as we will be bringing you updates of every round of the Cup from our brand new twitter feed - @CapitalOne_Cup.
