Slew set to start Latics opener
Jordan Slew will be given his debut against Sheffield Wednesday in Oldham's Capital One Cup first-round tie.
Slew has joined the Latics on a six-month loan deal from Blackburn just a year after leaving Sheffield United.
The teenager will go straight into Paul Dickov's team for Monday night's game.
Fellow loanee Lee Croft will also be pushing for a starting place after returning for a second spell at Boundary Park.
Croft enjoyed a loan spell at Oldham during the 2004/05 season and should make a welcome return after a season-long loan was agreed with Derby.
Dickov has a fully-fit squad to choose from as his team seek to continue their pre-season form, which included a 2-1 win over Barclays Premier League champions Manchester City.
Sheffield Wednesday's Chris Lines will definitely miss the trip after being ruled out for up to 12 weeks.
The 26-year-old midfielder, who was virtually ever-present for the Owls last season following his move from Bristol Rovers, suffered a groin strain in the 1-1 friendly draw with West Brom.
Manager Dave Jones told the club's official website: "Chris is facing around eight to 12 weeks out. It's not great news but it's a lot better than what we thought it was.
"What that does is open the door to someone else because somebody will take that shirt.''
Trialist Marlon Harewood impressed with a hat-trick in the 4-1 friendly win at Kilmarnock and could be involved if Jones decides to give him a permanent deal.
Wednesday have no other injury or suspension worries for the short trip across the Pennines.
