Kevin Davies feels it is vital Bolton get their npower Championship campaign up and running in back-to-back home games this week.
The Trotters fell to an opening day derby defeat at Burnley on Saturday as they began a first season outside the top flight for 11 years.
Opportunities for redemption come thick and fast over the coming days and veteran striker Davies believes his team-mates must be fully prepared when Derby and Nottingham Forest visit the Reebok Stadium this week.
"I certainly don't expect it to be easy," he told Press Association Sport.
"I think a lot of people are tipping us to go back up and I think that's rightly so with the amount of quality that we have in the squad.
"I feel it's important to get off to a good start. If we can do that and get the fans with us, get the confidence and belief up and all that, I think we've got a good chance.
"The three games come in six days which is a tough start, but we've got two home games.
"Hopefully we can win and build on that because confidence is a huge thing in football."
