Having started refereeing aged 14, Matt Donohue gained promotion to the EFL list of assistant referees in 2014.
He operated in the EFL for two seasons before hanging up the flag and concentrating on refereeing in 2016. From this point Matt gained promotion to 2B (National League North and South) in 2016, to 2A (National League National and Premier League 2) in 2017 and then to the National Group (EFL League One and Two) in 2018.
Last season, he refereed 35 EFL matches and acted as Fourth Official in 20. Matt refereed in the National League Play-Offs in 2018 and acted as a Fourth Official for the 2019 FA Trophy Final.
